Embrace – The Body Image Movement Doco from Taryn Brumfitt
Taryn Brumfitt is a Mum, who like many women, didn’t appreciate her post baby body. After working her arse off to get back into shape (and looking super hot by many standards) she found herself unhappy, and started asking questions such as: why are we battling to be someone other than who we really are? Why are our girls and young women more worried about how they look, rather than who they are and what they’re capable of?
After posting this photo:
She had a bunch of trolls go off their faces … as only trolls do, and thus began her journey in creating the doco, Embrace. Taryn chats with all sorts of cool people and has even started her own ‘culture’ The Body Image movement.
It’s all about empowering ourselves and LOVING our bodies, not just pretending to. The scars, stretch marks, beards, cellulite, wrinkles, spots, you name it. Love your bits, ladies. It’s important, because if we don’t try how can we expect it of our daughters?
I watched it recently and spent most of the time snivelling.
It’s the kind of doco I want to pass on to my daughter, friends, their daughters, my grandmother, even all the strangers I pass by on the street.
So of course, I love this woman, and felt inclined to share. Get on it.
